Sophie May.
Welcome! I have been making content on the internet since 2007. 17 years later the content has changed significantly, but I’m still thriving in my little corner of the web.
About the blog
I created my personal brand, Sophie May, in the form of a YouTube channel back in 2018. In 2024 this blog launched as a way for me to hone my writing skills in a less pressurised way than writing my novel (more on that below if you’re interested).
Content you can expect to see:
- lifestyle – fashion, beauty, home, plant mumming, weight loss journeying…
- writing – updates on my WIP, lessons I’ve learnt etc.
- content creation / social media marketing
- and whatever else floats my boat, as it were.
If you’re interested in learning more about me, keep reading.
About Sophie
I turned 30 this year and honestly, it was a little bit of a wake up call. As someone who works a full-time job and has caring responsibilities, it was hard to keep positive when feeling like all I did was work, eat, sleep, repeat. I’d been working a lot on my YouTube channel but knew that there was more I could be doing to make me happy.
Writing has been a favourite pastime of mine since I was young. I’ve been writing a novel for about 10 years now (hello perfectionism, procrastination and tech issues) and whilst I love it and the world I’m building, I felt like I developed a lot of pressure around getting it completed. Every writing session become progressively more stressful until I realised I needed a break. Enter: Sophie May, the blog! This way of writing flows fairly naturally to me and I immediately enjoyed writing again. I’m still working on the novel, just with less time-pressure and stress!
But let’s zoom out a bit. Who is Sophie?
I live with my mum and have caring responsibilities. It can be quite heavy at times, but my little corner of the internet gives me a place to go when it gets too much. My family are wonderful though, and spending time with them is what really motivates me.
I have a YouTube channel that is my one true love. It’s tiny in the grand scheme of YouTube, but to me, it means a lot. I vlog every single week, so be sure to subscribe over there if that’s of interest to you 😉
I’m a bit of a fan-girl. Taylor Swift, Potter, Disney, period drama’s…the list goes on. I used to have a Tumblr that had a page with all the TV shows, films, books and music I loved. It was rather long. I wish I still had it now, as my memory is terrible and I forget half the stuff I loved as a teen.
And that’s about all I have to say right now. This could go on forever but I’m sure you’ve lost interest, if you’ve even made it this far!
Thank you for visiting the site, I hope you’ll stick around to check out some blog posts, or perhaps explore the YouTube catalog?
Kisses, Sophie xx
